The history of Niagara Therapy and Ultrassage
Our History
The beginning of Niagara's patented cycloid action began in the 1920s in the coal fields of Canada. The coal miners discovered that by leaning against a mining machine, they could get immediate relief for aching backs and joints. The Wettlaufer Brothers were inventors, and when they heard about this they began researching this revolutionary new 'process'.
The commercial potential of this life-changing form of therapy was never fully recognized until Owen Murphy stumbled onto it in 1948. Because of his background with the Medical Corps during WWII, Owen realized the incredible range of benefits that products based on this new 'energy' could produce. He was so sure of its potential that, in 1949, he paid the unheard of vast sum of $150,000 (US) for the patent and.... Niagara Therapy was born.
Since Niagara has first been founded, it has grown into the world's largest manufacturer of in-home therapy products. Millions of people worldwide use Niagara therapy and these customers are serviced through a network of offices and service providers throughout many countries around the world.
Niagara Therapy Heritage
1950-1960
In the early fifties the Niagara Therapy company was born. Exclusive cyclo-massage therapy products allowed Niagara to expand to a dozen countries. Ultrassage would become Niagara Therapy’s official Canadian distributor.
1990-2000
Niagara by Ultrassage extends it’s lead in the Canadian market by focussing on it’s two main product lines: massage chairs and adjustable beds, also called electric beds.
